Leadership, Experience and a Commitment to Our Community

About Ken

Ken and Darlene met while working for the Milwaukee Police Department and have been happily married for 37 years, soon to celebrate their 38th anniversary on September 19th. Together, they have raised three daughters. They moved to Mukwonago in 2004 and have embraced the community ever since.  When they’re not serving the village, they enjoy gardening, dining at local restaurants, and going to the movies. Their lighthearted dynamic has been compared to Lucy and Ricky from I Love Lucy—with Darlene bringing energy and humor, while Ken keeps things steady and practical.

A Lifetime of Service

Ken recently stepped down as Chairman of the Village Police Commission after more than 10 years of service to pursue a new opportunity to serve Mukwonago as Village Trustee.  His decision to run came from witnessing the rapid growth of the community and wanting to have a direct role in shaping its future.

With a lifelong commitment to public service, Ken’s career includes working for the Milwaukee Police Department, the Capitol Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Fair Police Department. He is also a retired Master Sergeant from the 128th Air Refueling Wing, where he served for 22 years. Ken and his wife, Darlene, have always been active in their community, including at St. James Church in Mukwonago.

Committed to Independent Leadership

Ken and his wife, Darlene Johnson, a longtime Village Trustee, both serve on the board as independent voices for the community. While some questioned a married couple serving together, Ken made it clear that they are both independent thinkers, even requesting to be seated at opposite ends of the boardroom to reinforce their separate perspectives.
